The capital of Portugal is situated on the river Tagus, and the city and its surroundings, have much to offer. Lisbon is rich with a history of exploration and discovery with many buildings and monuments reflecting its maritime past, ancient monuments blending in with modern architecture, tiled walls and cobbled streets, and clanking trams that take you around the quaint old quarters.

There are also a good range of Atlantic beaches reachable within half an hour drive from central Lisbon.
