This beautiful independent apartment occupies part of a wing of a Palladian Villa built in the second half of the 16th century by one of the most powerful and noble families of Venice. The Villa has always been a private home, warm and welcoming, but also a place of glamour, elegance and history. It offers an ideal base for those wanting to visit the Veneto, and in particular, the Palladian Villas along the Brenta River, as well as Venice, Treviso, and Padova. Within a 10 minute drive of the property, there is a bar, mini-market, bank, and a restaurant. There is also a supermarket 10 minutes away. Activities available close by include fishing, tennis, bird watching (a Nature Sanctuary is 5 kms away), golf and indoor go-karting. The owners, who occupy another wing of the villa, are happy to give guests a guided tour around the main part of the villa and the grounds, and explain the history and architecture of the property. The enormous 16th century villa, in Palladian style, is structured with a central main building which is flanked on both sides by arcaded wings (one of which on the left of the photo, houses the apartment). This frames an “Italian” style garden with a fountain, Greek statues, flower beds, lawns and hedges.
The surrounding park (70.000 sqm) is fully fenced and filled with wonderful plants and trees. There is also a lovely dovecote, a chapel and a large fish pond with running water. Other areas consist of woods with century-old trees and numerous statues. Close to the main building, in a garden separated from the main park, and for exclusive guest use, is a 9 x 6 m. (1.60 m. deep) swimming pool, open May 1st through October 1st, surrounded by oleanders, roses and hydrangeas. A patio is equipped with garden furniture (a wooden table, ten chairs, six deck-chairs) and a barbecue/grill. A dressing room with pool towels, extra chairs and a small refrigerator is accessible from the private garden. Other amenities are a “Calcetto” (5-a-side football field), inside the park, and three mountain bikes. There is ample parking by the apartment entrance.
The apartment is on three floors, with the main private entrance on the ground floor, leading to a hall with marble staircase to the first floor. From the landing at the top of the stairs, two different sections can be reached, one on the right and one on the left. On the right is a hallway that leads to the dining room and to the kitchen and the large living room, with well stocked bar, satellite TV, DVD player and CD stereo. To the left is a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and private sitting room. The entire suite has wood beamed ceilings and the windows overlook the porch of the villa’s wing. The top floor consists of three bedrooms and a sitting room with satellite TV and DVD player. All the windows on this floor overlook the main Italian style garden and the villa’s façade. The apartment is elegantly decorated throughout with period furniture and some antiques that have belonged to the family since the 16th century. The apartment was restored and partially refurbished in 2004. The walls have original marble plaster surfaces and most rooms have parquet floors and plaster decorated ceilings, while the bathrooms boast hand painted “Vietri” tiles and high standard bath fittings. Included in the rental price is air conditioning, wi-fi internet access, bar with spirits and liqueurs, and a reservation service for restaurants, theatres, museums and excursions.
