The rocky landscape of the Petit Luberon is known for its ‘village perchés’, small hilltop villages which appear to cling to stony spurs and offer wonderful views over the valleys and Côtes du Luberon vineyards. La Bastide de Bonnieux, an 18th century bastide, is situated just two kilometres from Bonnieux, perhaps the best known of these. Other delightful villages, including Lacoste, Menerbes, Lourmarin and Roussillon, with their weekly markets, are also within close proximity. The many activities in this popular area of Provence include walking, cycling and horse riding, as well as the music festivals in Avignon and Orange. The property is accessed by electric security gates into an enclosed terraced garden. From its hillside position, there are magnificent views over the Luberon valley. To the front of the house is a lovely shaded terrace with wrought-iron dining table and chairs, On a lower level, within the garden, is the swimming pool (12 x 4m, step access) surrounded by a furnished sun terrace. Because of the terraced nature of the gardens, very young children would have to be watched carefully. The interiors have been refurbished with great taste and style and many of the original features have been preserved. The living room, with original fireplace, and the bedrooms in particular are beautifully decorated. Amenities include television, DVD, stereo CD player and internet access.
