This beautifully restored property, dating from the 18th century, sits perched on a hillside in the small village of Crillon-le-Brave, 40 minutes to the north-east of Avignon, and 30 minutes east of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It is a magnificent location, with panoramic views of Mont Ventoux and the surrounding countryside of vineyards and orchards. The village is particularly charming, with narrow cobbled streets, and remains of its original fortification. It is an ideal base for exploring this part of Provence. In the area you will find opportunities for cycling, hiking and nature walks in the Luberon, the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux, and a wealth of history to explore, including the famous Roman ruins at Vaison la Romaine and Orange, and the magnificent papal palace in Avignon. There are numerous cultural events for theatre, dance, music and art, and endless possibilities to enjoy the superb Provençal food and wine, from the famous producers of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, as well as local village markets.
The house comprises 6000 square feet of living space spread over four floors, with a lift. There are magnificent views from every one of its six luxuriously spacious bedrooms and most of the living areas. There are two bedrooms per floor, each with en-suite marble bathroom with bath and shower, and a comfortable sitting room, accessible from both bedrooms. Every room is decorated and furnished to an exceptionally high standard. There is air conditioning throughout, and satellite TV, CD machine, a small fridge and a safe in all the bedrooms. Three of the bedrooms have king-size beds and three have twin beds, which can be made up as double beds on request. Extra touches include dressing gowns, slippers and hairdryers in the bathrooms. The kitchen, dining area and living room are all on the lowest level, with access to a terrace and a small heated swimming pool. The terrace is furnished for relaxing and dining outdoors while enjoying the views.
Supplies for daily breakfast and maid service are included in the rental price. A variety of other services, including picnic lunches, cooking classes and wine tastings, and tour guides of the region can be arranged on request. A chef can be arranged to prepare lunch or dinner, or you can sample one of the many excellent restaurants nearby. There are two right in the village, just a few steps away, one serving traditional Provençal cuisine, and the other in a Relais & Chateau hotel. The property accommodates up to 12 people, and reduced rates are also available for 10 or 8 people occupancy on request. Stays of less than a week are possible out of high season.
